Social Activities are an important part of living, and that doesn't change when you come to live with us. We offer individual and group activities seven days a week, a chaplain and weekly church service, accommodations for private dining and family events. We also believe animals and pets can offer wonderful benefits. Our residents enjoy the aquarium fish and an aviary with new birds monthly.
A
licensed social worker is on the Long Term Care Unit staff. The social worker
assists nursing staff in preparing care plans for each of the residents
and makes weekly one-on-one contact with each resident. The social worker
is the primary contact person for information about the HCMC Long Term Care
Unit, including room availability, prices, placements and the primary contact
for families of the residents.
The social worker is responsible for:
- Admissions and discharges
- Maintaining resident petty cash funds
- Assisting residents and families to complete Medicaid applications when necessary
- Assisting residents when moving from room to room
- Assisting residents in meeting their needs. This may include referring for appropriate services, shopping for personal items or clothes, obtaining needed equipment, or just listening to concerns.
An in-house beauty salon is available for residents.
The dietary department provides three nutritious, well-balanced meals each day as well as evening snacks for residents. A snack car is available throughtout the day for residents and family to enjoy. Buffet dining is now available at the noon meal.
Apartments
Not ready to move to a nursing facility? HCMC has apartments, designed for the elderly, which are wheelchair accessible. Renters can live in their own apartments which have emergency call buttons directly linked to the LTCU nurses station. Maintenance is provided. Meals, prepared by the HCMC Dietary Department, may be purchased by apartment residents. Home health services may still be received if needed, while living in the apartments. Contact Pam Buller, Social Services, 620-947-1479, for information about HCMC Apartments.
